Kuwait bags 2 gold, 3 silver and bronze at 4th Gulf Games

DOHA: Kuwait won two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal on the fifth day of competition at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026, which will continue through May 22 in the Qatari capital of Doha.

In the shooting events, the Kuwait shooting team won the silver medal in the mixed doubles skeet competition, featuring shooters Saud Al-Kandari and Afrah Mohammed. In the track and field events, athlete Fajr Mandani won a silver medal in the hammer throw, while her teammate Sheikha Al-Saghan took the bronze. Aisha Al-Khader also won the gold medal in the women’s triple jump, while Haya Al-Tawajer secured the silver medal in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase.

In padel, the women’s padel team got off to a strong start by defeating the Bahraini team 3-0 in their Gulf Championship opener and will face the Qatari team late Sunday. Ammar Taqi, a member of the billiards and snooker team, won the gold medal in the men’s singles (6-red) snooker competition after defeating his Qatari opponent Ali Al-Obaidli. In handball, the Kuwaiti team lost to their Qatari counterparts with a score of 19-34.

The 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026, hosted by Doha, will continue until May 22 with the participation of approximately 1,400 male and female athletes from the six Gulf countries in sports including handball, table tennis, athletics, badminton, fencing, boxing, taekwondo, karate, swimming, billiards, basketball (3×3), shooting, archery, volleyball, equestrian and bowling.(KUNA)
