Youth, education ministers discuss talent development

KUWAIT: Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Tareq Al-Jalahma met with Education Minister Jalal Al-Tabtabaei at the Ministry of Education to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between the educational and youth sectors.


According to a ministry statement, the discussions focused on enhancing youth programs, promoting sports activities within schools, and providing students with opportunities to develop both physical and mental skills. The ministers also emphasized the importance of identifying and nurturing talented youth and creating an encouraging environment for them to excel in various fields. Both sides agreed on the need for continued coordination and joint initiatives to advance educational and youth objectives, supporting the development of a capable and engaged generation.


In a separate meeting, Minister Al-Jalahma welcomed Khaled Alfoudari, General Secretary of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club, along with several national and club champions in marine sports on Sunday. The meeting included sailing champion Amina Shah, and fin swimming athletes Mohammed Al-Ajmi and Sweid Al-Ajmi, who discussed the club’s role in developing marine sports in Kuwait.

Alfoudari said the conversation highlighted the club’s achievements at international, regional, Arab and Gulf competitions. He added that the discussion also touched on challenges facing marine sports, particularly the high shipping costs required to transport equipment for overseas tournaments. The meeting also reviewed the latest developments regarding the fire that damaged the rowing boat storage, Alfoudari said without giving more details.


The officials also discussed the “club’s urgent need to provide new boats that meet international standards.” Alfoudari expressed appreciation for Dr Al-Jalahma’s support of marine sports and his commitment to helping the club and national team achieve further successes, representing Kuwait at global and regional competitions.
