KUWAIT: The Court of Appeals imposed a fine of KD6,000 on a foreign cosmetic surgeon for disclosing confidential medical information by publishing the photograph of a veiled patient’s face on social media and other advertising platforms without her consent, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

The court found that the doctor published the photograph of the patient, which is related to a medical procedure she underwent, thereby revealing information about her medical condition and identity.

Doctors must maintain the confidentiality of such legally protected medical information. In its ruling, the court underscored the importance of respecting the privacy of patients, protecting their rights, and prohibiting the exploitation of their images or medical information for any purpose without legal consent.
